Black Moon
The Black Moon Saga
Book 1
Becca C. Smith & F.M. Sherrill

Genre: Paranormal Romance
Publisher: Red Frog Publishing
Number of pages: 283
Cover Artist: Becca C. Smith & F.M. Sherrill

Book Description:

Shea Harper is forced to stay in boring, hot and dry Phoenix, Arizona for college. But once she meets the enigmatic yet positively egocentric Lucian, Shea’s life changes forever.

She finds out that she comes from a long line of descendants called Vessels. In her soul is the key to destroying an ancient prison protecting the world from darkness itself: Lucian’s father.

Up until now, Lucian has captured every descendant except Shea. With her powers awakening, all vampires want to drag her down to the pit. But Lucian is territorial. She’s the first female Vessel… and he’s convinced she belongs to him.

Saucy and tauntingly surprising, Black Moon captures the struggle between burning alive with desire and castrating the heart. This is a love story that will drain you dry.

About the Authors:
Becca C. Smith:

Becca C. Smith received her Film degree from Full Sail University and has worked in the Film and Television industry for most of her adult life. In 2010 Becca published her first novel, Riser followed by the sequel, Reaper, in 2011, and the finale, Ripper in 2013. In 2012 Becca wrote the children’s novel Alexis Tappendorf and the Search for Beale’s Treasure. She is also the co-author of the teen graphic novel Ghost Whisperer: The Haunted. Most recently Becca released Atlas, the first book in a new urban fantasy series. She currently lives in Los Angeles, CA with her husband, Stephan and their two cats Jack and Duke.

F.M. Sherrill:

Aren't author's bios boring? I always wanted to read one that went something like this:

F.M. Sherrill: recent citizen of earth. Plans on ruling the planet once she gets over the common cold. Or, F.M. Sherrill: time traveler. Decided to alter the space-time continuum by writing a novel, thus changing history slightly, which will eventually lead to the rise of a new human species.

But here it is. F.M. Sherrill is a novelist, A.K.A. an avid bullshitter; that's why she lives in L.A.. She's been writing for as long as her ancient mind can remember, devouring tales like an anemic vampire roaming the streets in hot pink heels, always thirsty for more. When she's not writing, she's making steampunk weapons, sewing giant plant-eater Mario plushes, making costumes for some film bloke or cosplayer, and sculpting/casting movie prop replicas while gardening in her urban apartment. Her favorite tools? A soldering iron, a blowtorch, a band saw, a sonic screwdriver, a replicator and an active imagination.

Author Interview: Fallen by Laury Falter

Fallen
Guardian Trilogy
Book 1
Laury Falter

Genre: Young Adult Fantasy Romance
Publisher: Audeamus LLC
Date of Publication: April 1, 2009
Number of pages: 274 pages

Amazon

Book Description:

Fallen - the first book in the Guardian Trilogy...

Maggie is unaware of the terrifying fate that awaits her. It isn’t until she lands in New Orleans for a full year at a private high school and her unknown enemies find her does she realize that her life is in danger.

As a mystifying stranger repeatedly intervenes and blocks the attempts on her life, she begins to learn that there is more to him than his need to protect her and that he may be the key to understanding why her enemies have just now arrived.

PRFL would like to extend a very warm welcome to Laury Falter, author of Fallen. Laury, to begin, can you tell us where you're from, and what inspired you to become a writer?
I was born and raised in Southern California, and yet I've always had a deep appreciation for the south, so much that when I developed my idea for Maggie and Eran's romance there was no better place to set it than in New Orleans. Oddly enough, I never read romance while growing up. My favorite author was Stephen King. Horror. Strange that I would end up writing young adult romances. I suppose that's where the paranormal/fantasy parts come in.

Can you say that your journey to publication was difficult? If so, what were the hardest moments to get through?
Yes and no. I don't know of a single author who would say it has been easy. My manuscript was rejected repeatedly by agents and publishers alike. When I ended up putting it Amazon and my books became bestsellers (one of which outranked a Stephenie Meyers Twilight Saga book in Amazon sales for a duration) I felt proud…and stunned. The publishing part was a challenge. On the flip side, the actual act of writing the book was effortless. Writing was my release after my day job, a place where I could escape to another world with danger and romance.

How do you overcome i-suck-at-this, that little voice in your head that tells you your writing isn’t good enough?
Okay, so there is a tendency in me to flick the owner of that little voice aside, off my shoulder and out of my life. Unfortunately, I never do. I don't overcome it. I listen to it. If it's telling me this there is a reason for it, or so I figure. At that point, I go back and rewrite.

What is your dream vacation?
First, I know how corny this sounds. Most authors, I'm assuming, would rather take a break from their novels/characters. I, on the other hand, am a bit odd. I would absolutely love to travel to the locations where my characters have lived out their fictitious lives. Many of the places where my characters have lived, fought, and died truly exist. I've researched those places in depth via books, travel guides, historical accounts and references, Google Earth, etc. But to visit those sites, would be awe-inspiring. This was definitely the case when I visited New Orleans and conjured up the plots for the Guardian Trilogy and the Residue Series.

Describe your writing style in five words.
These are the descriptions my readers have given so I'll pass them along…Fast-paced, action-oriented, reflective, sexy, page-turners.

What movies are you currently excited to see?
Maleficent (as I'm told it has excellent character development) and Dawn of the Planet of the Apes (since I read it was a magnificent war drama) . Most movies I watch are in relation to what I write (fantasy, good romance, action).

What are you currently reading?
My own work, actually. I'm writing the prequels to my Guardian Trilogy and have been re-reading the first three books (Fallen, Eternity, and Reckoning) to ensure the plots, characters, etc fit into the patchwork that is a series.

If you weren’t a writer, what other careers would you pursue?
I'd dedicate my time to helping animals.  The truth is, though, I don't foresee myself ever giving up writing entirely.

If you could create a holiday of your own, what would it be called?
A pirate holiday in which treasure hunts were replaced with trick-or-treating and everyone had to use pirate lingo like "Arrrgh" and "Blimey, blistery weatha'"

For people who haven’t read your novel, how would you summarize the plot?
Maggie is unaware of the terrifying fate that awaits her. It isn’t until she lands in New Orleans for a full year at a private high school and her unknown enemies find her does she realize that her life is in danger.
As a mystifying stranger repeatedly intervenes and blocks the attempts on her life, she begins to learn that there is more to him than his need to protect her and that he may be the key to understanding why her enemies have just now arrived.

What are two of your pet-peeves?
Whistling (I know it's a reflection of happiness, but it pierces the ears) and traffic (that one is self-explanatory).

To you, what makes a good story?
A good plot and interesting characters. Without those, all you have are a lot of pages filled with pointless words.

What usually turns you off about a story?
When it keeps giving away the teasers too early on.  I've never been able to finish a book when the author has created an enticing side story only to reveal the conclusion a few pages later. Very frustrating.

If you could collaborate with any author, who would you choose, and why?
Aaron Sorkin. Put simply and firmly, his dialogue is the best I've ever encountered. Ever.

What is on your night stand?
Oops, I don't have a nightstand. J

What is your favorite book?
Of all time? Besides mine? Just joking. The Bridge to Terabithia. It was the first book I read that made me cry.

Thank you so much for joining us today, Laury. We really enjoyed the visit. Good luck and great sales with Fallen

Book Spotlight: Destination TBD by JB McGee and Nicole Andrews Moore

Destination To Be Determined
The Traveler Series
Book 1
J.B. McGee and Nicole Andrews Moore

Genre: Time Travel
Length: 25,000 words (novella)

About the Series:
Emmy London is a private investigator by choice and a time traveler by chance. Her super secret ability enables her to go back in time to solve mysteries, but not change the past. The one caveat is that she can't use it for personal gain; the one mystery she can't solve is that of her past.

Follow Emmy as she tests the limits of her curse, writes her own rules, and learns that 'not-a-dates' can become relationships she never wanted all the while drinking lots of coffee.

These sexy humorous mysteries can be read as standalone novellas even as the characters evolve.

About the Book:
Life has never been easy for Emmy London. Raised in foster homes, she learned to never get too comfortable, to never let anyone in. When her classmate, Chloe Oliver, disappeared at the tender age of five, so did she. From that moment on, life was never the same. She kept a secret and kept her distance from everyone.

With the twentieth anniversary of Chloe's disappearance looming, Mr. Oliver sought Emmy's assistance, asking her to revisit the past in order to give him the closure he so desperately needed. As a private investigator, she was accustomed to facing unpleasant situations and sifting through others' lives. Unfortunately, this time to do that, she had to face her own.

Soon, she herself is being followed. A handsome stranger insinuates himself in her life. Everything she believed and thought she knew is called into question beginning with…can she turn her curse into a gift?

Her mission is clear, her destination is to be determined.

A fan introduced her to JB McGee, who became her mentor and best friend. They have been working together ever since, but The Traveler Series is their first collaboration. About the Author:
Jessa Russo believes in fairytales, ghosts, and Jake Ryan. She insists mimosas were created for Sundays, and that’s not up for discussion.  She’s obsessed with the great city of New Orleans—where she’s collected too many beads to count, eventually married her sweetheart, and visited graveyards they don’t include on maps.

She’s loud, painfully honest, and passionate about living life to the fullest, because she’s seen how abruptly it can be taken away.

What began as a desire for reading and writing young adult paranormal has bled into stories of all kinds. From fantasy to pre-dystopian to erotic contemporary, Jessa’s stories always include romance, though she’s given up on pigeonholing her work into a category or genre box.

Jessa was born and raised in Southern California, and remains there to this day with her husband (a classic car fanatic), their daughter (a Tim Burton superfan), and a Great Dane who thinks he’s the same size as his Chihuahua sister.
ENTWINED, the final installment of Russo’s Ever Trilogy, will be released later this year, as well as an erotic romance written under the pseudonym Parker Jameson, so please stay tuned!

The story behind the story
In life, we all are bombarded with choices. At times, the wrong choice can be the right one and vice versa. But what happens when the right choice is right, but the following choices and decision made – based upon that choice are wrong. Consider these following choices.
·         Do you regret the original choice?
·         Thought it felt right and originally brought you happiness.
·         Or, do you live with the unfortunate burdens brought upon you based off of the choice you made.
·         Or… do you leave, walk out and turn your back on the new life you’ve designed for yourself – based upon that choice.

The key to survival and success is based on the roads we choose to travel down AND the person we choose to travel down them with.
But what happens when you are offered to choose? Red Pill or Blue Pill
The Red Pill – You walk away forgetting the choice was offered; you live a happy life, no burdened, no unexpected deaths, no detrimental tragedies, and things appear as they should…Good. But… the devoid of not being with him practically kills you.
The Blue Pill – You choose a life with the person exclusively designed for you. Dedicated, unconditional, because you heart beats for the two of you they keep you closer then themselves type of love. But… there is death, betrayal, lies, pain, change, destruction, and controllable burdens.
Most, when brought the choice, choose love in hopes love will conquer all; the most evil, the worse magic, the worse hate, and the most deadly. That is until they find in love lies death.
In Burdened, a paranormal romance, Tracey is brought the choice to be with a burdened Sephlem whose life, one would try to avoid. But in the deepest temptation of love and an expression of happiness, she chooses to be with him – Nathan – and endure the burdens in his life. Prequel Spotlight & Excerpt: Captured by SJ Harper

Captured
Prequel
Fallen Siren Series
SJ Harper

GENRE: Urban Fantasy / Paranormal Romance

About the Book:
Join FBI Agents Emma Monroe and Zack Armstrong. She’s a Siren. He’s a Werewolf. Their mission is redemption.
Emma Monroe is a Fallen Siren, cursed by the gods and banished to Earth for her failure to prevent the kidnapping of Persephone. She’s had many names and many lives, but only one mission: redemption. Now she works for the FBI and is on temporary assignment in Charleston. Solving this next missing persons case could be the key to ending her ancient curse—unless the temptation that’s her new partner gets in the way.
Zack Armstrong is a Werewolf. Tall, dark, and dangerous, he currently works for one of the bureau’s elite Child Abduction Rapid Deployment teams. In many respects the man is every bit as mysterious as his secret and perilous past. But there are two things he’s certain about, that he’s going to get his man and his woman.

When Zack finds himself suddenly shy a partner and a third child goes missing in Charleston, Emma goes from consultant to CARD team member in the space of a few hours. The abductions of the first two boys ended in murder, an outcome that neither Zack nor Emma can abide. As they race against time to track down the kidnapper and rescue the latest victim, they find themselves fighting something just as treacherous—a growing attraction that can’t be ignored or denied.

Excerpt:
Zack looks up at the brand new security camera by the edge of the driveway. “There’s one more thing we can do,” Zack says. “There were security cameras in the grocery store Mikey Nicolson was taken from and more in the parking lot.”
“But you must have already looked at it.”
“Fresh eyes, remember? Unfortunately, the back where the body was found isn’t covered and the space that Mrs. Nicolson parked in was in a blind spot. I don’t know, maybe there’s something you’ll see that we didn’t.”
He slides in behind the wheel.
I open the passenger door. A gust of hot air rushes out. “Do you think the kidnapper could have known that? Maybe we should look more closely at some of the employees.”
The air conditioning is now going full blast. All of the windows are rolled down.
“I don’t think anyone knew,” says Zack. “Footage is recorded and stored. It’s not actively monitored. When I pointed out the blind spot to the manager, he was surprised. Surveillance was originally set up to cover the entire lot. A few months prior to the kidnapping a motor home backed into a light pole one of the cameras was mounted on. The camera had been knocked off line and he assumed it had been fixed.”
I sigh. “Well, right now we don’t have anything else. May as well give the footage another look. How long will it take to get access?”
Zack answers. “No time at all. I’ve got the files loaded on my laptop. I have to warn you, there’s several days’ worth of footage. Even on fast forward, it’s going to take a long time to get through.”
I check my watch. “I’m game if you are. We can order in for dinner.”
“You know, you’re a woman after my own heart. You think about food as much as I do.”
He checks the rearview mirror then rolls up the windows and puts the car in gear. “Your place or mine?” He turns to face me head on. His tone is completely professional. But the question does something to me. Something it shouldn’t. Something dangerous.
Can he sense the quickening of my pulse? Smell the hint of arousal?
I’ve waited too long to answer.
One corner of Zack’s mouth turns up. A slow smile forms. “You’re thinking about that question awfully hard, Agent Monroe.”
I meet his eyes. “Mine,” I answer.
He nods. “A lady who likes to be in control, call the shots.”
I grin. “A lady who is a good shot. You best remember that, Agent Armstrong.”

Genre: Paranormal Romance
Date of Publication: June 2014
Cover Artist: Gözdem Perrichet

Book Description:
Ciarán Blane had always been a soldier. It was the only way of life he knew. But he hadn't been an average warrior, since he was not even an ordinary man to begin with. He was something more than human, carrying a wild beast within, akin to a werewolf-like creature straight from legends and myths...

Except he was very real.

Ciarán was a highly trained sniper who was sent into the thick of the fray, when basic human senses were failing. He was also an executioner for his own kind, when they lost all semblance of a civilized being and had gone rogue. After years of dealing in death, he was on the cusp of losing his own humanity in favor to his ferocious nature. And once that happened, nothing but death awaited him...

Danielle Kendrick had planned her whole life up to the smallest detail, only to helplessly watch all her dreams and hopes unravel and crumple at her feet. All of it being merely the outcome of one catastrophic moment, when the truth had been revealed in all its ugly glory. Not the truth about her, but her older brother, who turned out to be a far cry from the person everybody thought he was.

After his death, all his sins fell on Dani's shoulders, in the blink of an eye costing her the loss of family, friends, a house and a dream career. But fate was not yet done with her and kept testing her by placing more challenges in her way. Was Ciarán going to be one of too many and her final downfall at once?

Being the mate to a savage alpha male would be hard enough but he was the very person, who was the catalyst behind her life falling apart. Was Danielle going to be able see past that and trust the intimidating man, who seemed to be nothing more than a hardened killer, possessing the same traits she despised in her own brother?

Will she turn her back on Ciarán and by doing that, damn them both?

Was a dominant male, used to having his way in every aspect of life, be able to rein in his primal instinct for a love he doesn't believe in? Or does the hunter turn into the very thing he hated and become the prey instead?

Walking through life to the beat of her own drum, she has worked in a PR Agency, small companies, a big consortium and even in the Military.
