Danica: Where are you from
and from where/who did your love for writing come from?
Jennifer: I’m from Ohio, and my love for reading likely came from my
mum. She read to me and my sib every night and by the time we got to chapter
books, I couldn’t wait until I was old enough to keep reading even after she
stopped for the night.
Danica: Can you say that your journey to publication was difficult? If so, what
were the hardest moments to get through?
Jennifer: Not difficult, it’s just a
learning process. Writing is like painting. Getting the idea is easy, it’s the
execution that’s hard and just because you know the mechanics of how to do it,
doesn’t mean you can do it well. It takes a sturdy self-esteem and a
willingness to admit when you’re not quite there yet to make it.
Danica: How do you overcome i-suck-it-is, that little voice in your head that
tells you your writing isn’t good enough?
Jennifer: I look at it as part of the
process. It’s not that my writing isn’t good enough, it’s that it’s not good
enough YET. There’s always room for improvement and I’m more than willing to
listen to feedback from readers, critique partners, and editors. Coffee helps
too.
Danica: What is your dream vacation?
Jennifer: Ireland. I’d love to see the
Emerald Isle.
Danica: Can you take me??? :)) JK I'm a boring travel companion--I only read! Back to your books.... Can you describe your writing
style in five words?
Jennifer: Humorous. Sensual. Exciting. Magical. Twisted.
Danica: What movies are you currently excited to see?
Jennifer: I don’t really go to the movies.
However, I hear they’re making a Rio 2 and me and my son are both excited about
that.
Danica: What are you currently reading?
Jennifer: The Encyclopedia of Slavic
Mythology by Mike Dixon-Kennedy
Danica: If you weren’t a writer, what other careers would you pursue?
Jennifer: I’d probably make use of my B.A.
and M.S. in psychology and become a psychologist
Danica: If you could create a holiday of your own, what would it be called?
Jennifer: Mythology Day, the day when you
learn a new myth and celebrate how fascinating and timeless some of those
stories really are
Danica: For people who haven’t read your novel, how would you summarize the
plot?
Jennifer: It’s a Cinderella story infused
with a plethora of werewolf myths.
Danica: What are two of your pet-peeves?
Jennifer: People who don’t replace an empty
roll of toilet paper and writers who don’t know the difference between BDSM and
just plain violence.
Danica: To you, what makes a good story?
Jennifer: Humor that doesn’t overwhelm the
drama. I want characters that will make me laugh without compromising the drama
of the plot that keeps pulling me forward.
Danica: What usually turns you off about a story?
Jennifer: Mary Sues, depressing topics, and
instant love based on nothing all turn me off.
Danica: If you could collaborate with any author, who would you choose, and
why?
Jennifer: Terry Pratchett, just because I
absolutely must meet him.
Danica: What is on your night stand?
Jennifer: Whatever my son left there.
Danica: What is your favorite book?
Jennifer:Anything by Terry Pratchett. The
Last Continent and Witches Abroad are two of my favorites.

Jennifer Blackstream is a psychology enthusiast with both a B.A. and M.A. in Psychology. Her fascination with the human mind is most appeased through the study of mythology and folklore as well as all of Terry Pratchett’s novels.
Jennifer enjoys listening to Alice Cooper, trying new recipes (to which she will add garlic whether it calls for it or not), watching television with her family, and playing with her woefully intelligent four year old son.
Jennifer spends most of her time drinking coffee from her X-Men mug and desperately trying to get all her ideas written down before her toddler can find that all magical button on her laptop to make all her work vanish.
