Black Moon
The Black Moon Saga
Book 1
Becca C. Smith & F.M. Sherrill
Genre: Paranormal Romance
Publisher: Red Frog Publishing
Number of pages: 283
Cover Artist: Becca C. Smith & F.M. Sherrill
Book Description:
Shea Harper is forced to stay in boring, hot and dry Phoenix, Arizona for college. But once she meets the enigmatic yet positively egocentric Lucian, Shea’s life changes forever.
She finds out that she comes from a long line of descendants called Vessels. In her soul is the key to destroying an ancient prison protecting the world from darkness itself: Lucian’s father.
Up until now, Lucian has captured every descendant except Shea. With her powers awakening, all vampires want to drag her down to the pit. But Lucian is territorial. She’s the first female Vessel… and he’s convinced she belongs to him.
Saucy and tauntingly surprising, Black Moon captures the struggle between burning alive with desire and castrating the heart. This is a love story that will drain you dry.
About the Authors:
Becca C. Smith:
Becca C. Smith received her Film degree from Full Sail University and has worked in the Film and Television industry for most of her adult life. In 2010 Becca published her first novel, Riser followed by the sequel, Reaper, in 2011, and the finale, Ripper in 2013. In 2012 Becca wrote the children’s novel Alexis Tappendorf and the Search for Beale’s Treasure. She is also the co-author of the teen graphic novel Ghost Whisperer: The Haunted. Most recently Becca released Atlas, the first book in a new urban fantasy series. She currently lives in Los Angeles, CA with her husband, Stephan and their two cats Jack and Duke.
F.M. Sherrill:
Aren't author's bios boring? I always wanted to read one that went something like this:
F.M. Sherrill: recent citizen of earth. Plans on ruling the planet once she gets over the common cold. Or, F.M. Sherrill: time traveler. Decided to alter the space-time continuum by writing a novel, thus changing history slightly, which will eventually lead to the rise of a new human species.
But here it is. F.M. Sherrill is a novelist, A.K.A. an avid bullshitter; that's why she lives in L.A.. She's been writing for as long as her ancient mind can remember, devouring tales like an anemic vampire roaming the streets in hot pink heels, always thirsty for more. When she's not writing, she's making steampunk weapons, sewing giant plant-eater Mario plushes, making costumes for some film bloke or cosplayer, and sculpting/casting movie prop replicas while gardening in her urban apartment. Her favorite tools? A soldering iron, a blowtorch, a band saw, a sonic screwdriver, a replicator and an active imagination.

Fallen - the first book in the Guardian Trilogy...

As a mystifying stranger repeatedly intervenes and blocks the attempts on her life, she begins to learn that there is more to him than his need to protect her and that he may be the key to understanding why her enemies have just now arrived.
PRFL would like to extend a very warm welcome to Laury Falter, author of Fallen. Laury, to begin, can you tell us where you're from, and what inspired you to become a writer?
I was born and raised in Southern California, and yet I've always had a
deep appreciation for the south, so much that when I developed my idea for
Maggie and Eran's romance there was no better place to set it than in New
Orleans. Oddly enough, I never read romance while growing up. My favorite
author was Stephen King. Horror. Strange that I would end up writing young
adult romances. I suppose that's where the paranormal/fantasy parts come in.
Can you say that your journey to publication was difficult? If so, what
were the hardest moments to get through?
Yes and no. I don't know of a single
author who would say it has been easy. My manuscript was rejected repeatedly by
agents and publishers alike. When I ended up putting it Amazon and my books
became bestsellers (one of which outranked a Stephenie Meyers Twilight Saga
book in Amazon sales for a duration) I felt proud…and stunned. The publishing
part was a challenge. On the flip side, the actual act of writing the book was effortless.
Writing was my release after my day job, a place where I could escape to
another world with danger and romance.
How do you overcome i-suck-at-this, that little voice in your head that
tells you your writing isn’t good enough?
Okay, so there is a tendency in me to
flick the owner of that little voice aside, off my shoulder and out of my life.
Unfortunately, I never do. I don't overcome it. I listen to it. If it's telling
me this there is a reason for it, or so I figure. At that point, I go back and
rewrite.
What is your dream vacation?
First, I know how corny this sounds. Most
authors, I'm assuming, would rather take a break from their novels/characters.
I, on the other hand, am a bit odd. I would absolutely love to travel to the
locations where my characters have lived out their fictitious lives. Many of
the places where my characters have lived, fought, and died truly exist. I've
researched those places in depth via books, travel guides, historical accounts
and references, Google Earth, etc. But to visit those sites, would be awe-inspiring.
This was definitely the case when I visited New Orleans and conjured up the
plots for the Guardian Trilogy and the Residue Series.
Describe your writing style in five words.
These are the descriptions
my readers have given so I'll pass them along…Fast-paced, action-oriented,
reflective, sexy, page-turners.
What movies are you currently excited to see?
Maleficent (as I'm told
it has excellent character development) and Dawn of the Planet of the Apes
(since I read it was a magnificent war drama) . Most movies I watch are in
relation to what I write (fantasy, good romance, action).
What are you currently reading?
My own work, actually. I'm writing the
prequels to my Guardian Trilogy and have been re-reading the first three books
(Fallen, Eternity, and Reckoning) to ensure the plots, characters, etc fit into
the patchwork that is a series.
If you weren’t a writer, what other careers would you pursue?
I'd
dedicate my time to helping animals. The
truth is, though, I don't foresee myself ever giving up writing entirely.
If you could create a holiday of your own, what would it be called?
A
pirate holiday in which treasure hunts were replaced with trick-or-treating and
everyone had to use pirate lingo like "Arrrgh" and "Blimey,
blistery weatha'"
For people who haven’t read your novel, how would you summarize the
plot?
Maggie is unaware of the terrifying fate that awaits her. It isn’t until
she lands in New Orleans for a full year at a private high school and her
unknown enemies find her does she realize that her life is in danger.
As a mystifying stranger repeatedly intervenes and blocks the attempts
on her life, she begins to learn that there is more to him than his need to
protect her and that he may be the key to understanding why her enemies have
just now arrived.
What are two of your pet-peeves?
Whistling (I know it's a reflection of
happiness, but it pierces the ears) and traffic (that one is self-explanatory).
To you, what makes a good story?
A good plot and interesting
characters. Without those, all you have are a lot of pages filled with pointless
words.
What usually turns you off about a story?
When it keeps giving away the
teasers too early on. I've never been able
to finish a book when the author has created an enticing side story only to
reveal the conclusion a few pages later. Very frustrating.
If you could collaborate with any author, who would you choose, and
why?
Aaron Sorkin. Put simply and firmly, his dialogue is the best I've ever
encountered. Ever.
What is on your night stand?
Oops, I don't have a nightstand. J
What is your favorite book?
Of all time? Besides mine? Just joking. The
Bridge to Terabithia. It was the first book I read that made me cry.

About the Author:
Jessa Russo believes in fairytales, ghosts, and Jake Ryan. She insists mimosas were created for Sundays, and that’s not up for discussion. She’s obsessed with the great city of New Orleans—where she’s collected too many beads to count, eventually married her sweetheart, and visited graveyards they don’t include on maps.
She’s loud, painfully honest, and passionate about living life to the fullest, because she’s seen how abruptly it can be taken away.
What began as a desire for reading and writing young adult paranormal has bled into stories of all kinds. From fantasy to pre-dystopian to erotic contemporary, Jessa’s stories always include romance, though she’s given up on pigeonholing her work into a category or genre box.
Jessa was born and raised in Southern California, and remains there to this day with her husband (a classic car fanatic), their daughter (a Tim Burton superfan), and a Great Dane who thinks he’s the same size as his Chihuahua sister.
ENTWINED, the final installment of Russo’s Ever Trilogy, will be released later this year, as well as an erotic romance written under the pseudonym Parker Jameson, so please stay tuned!

PRFL would like to extend a very warm welcome to Peiri Ann, author of Burdened ~
The story
behind the story
In life, we all are bombarded with choices. At times, the wrong choice
can be the right one and vice versa. But what happens when the right choice is
right, but the following choices and decision made – based upon that choice are
wrong. Consider these following choices.
·
Do you
regret the original choice?
·
Thought
it felt right and originally brought you happiness.
·
Or, do
you live with the unfortunate burdens brought upon you based off of the choice
you made.
·
Or… do
you leave, walk out and turn your back on the new life you’ve designed for
yourself – based upon that choice.
The key to survival and success is based on the roads we choose to
travel down AND the person we choose to travel down them with.
But what happens when you are offered to choose? Red Pill or Blue Pill
But what happens when you are offered to choose? Red Pill or Blue Pill
The Red Pill – You walk away forgetting the choice
was offered; you live a happy life, no burdened, no unexpected deaths, no
detrimental tragedies, and things appear as they should…Good. But… the devoid
of not being with him practically kills you.
The Blue Pill – You choose a life with the person
exclusively designed for you. Dedicated, unconditional, because you heart beats
for the two of you they keep you closer then themselves type of love. But…
there is death, betrayal, lies, pain, change, destruction, and controllable
burdens.
Most, when brought the choice, choose love in hopes love will conquer
all; the most evil, the worse magic, the worse hate, and the most deadly. That
is until they find in love lies death.
In Burdened, a paranormal romance, Tracey is brought the choice to be
with a burdened Sephlem whose life, one would try to avoid. But in the deepest
temptation of love and an expression of happiness, she chooses to be with him –
Nathan – and endure the burdens in his life. And those burdens happen to come
from the people they least expect.
(In case you were wondering. There are no pills – blue or red – in
Burdened)

Book Spotlight: Between the Trees by ME Yildirim
Between The Trees
Chastity Point Series
Book II
M.E. Yildirim
Genre: Paranormal Romance
Date of Publication: June 2014
Cover Artist: Gözdem Perrichet
Book Description:
Ciarán Blane had always been a soldier. It was the only way of life he knew. But he hadn't been an average warrior, since he was not even an ordinary man to begin with. He was something more than human, carrying a wild beast within, akin to a werewolf-like creature straight from legends and myths...
Except he was very real.
Ciarán was a highly trained sniper who was sent into the thick of the fray, when basic human senses were failing. He was also an executioner for his own kind, when they lost all semblance of a civilized being and had gone rogue. After years of dealing in death, he was on the cusp of losing his own humanity in favor to his ferocious nature. And once that happened, nothing but death awaited him...
Danielle Kendrick had planned her whole life up to the smallest detail, only to helplessly watch all her dreams and hopes unravel and crumple at her feet. All of it being merely the outcome of one catastrophic moment, when the truth had been revealed in all its ugly glory. Not the truth about her, but her older brother, who turned out to be a far cry from the person everybody thought he was.
After his death, all his sins fell on Dani's shoulders, in the blink of an eye costing her the loss of family, friends, a house and a dream career. But fate was not yet done with her and kept testing her by placing more challenges in her way. Was Ciarán going to be one of too many and her final downfall at once?
Being the mate to a savage alpha male would be hard enough but he was the very person, who was the catalyst behind her life falling apart. Was Danielle going to be able see past that and trust the intimidating man, who seemed to be nothing more than a hardened killer, possessing the same traits she despised in her own brother?
Will she turn her back on Ciarán and by doing that, damn them both?
Was a dominant male, used to having his way in every aspect of life, be able to rein in his primal instinct for a love he doesn't believe in? Or does the hunter turn into the very thing he hated and become the prey instead?
About the Author:
M.E. Yildirim is a Public Relations specialist from Poland who is confident Satan himself created math and that the world needs more bookworms to balance the evil out. Her mother is the one who had inculcated in her respect and love for written stories and taught her not to judge a book by its cover.
She lives with head full of voices which won't be silenced until she lets them out to live and spin their tales on paper. That's right-their tales, since they seem to have a mind and will of their own. Walking through life to the beat of her own drum, she has worked in a PR Agency, small companies, a big consortium and even in the Military. But none of it could ever compare to the adventures of creating and building up her characters and stories.
M.E. believes that books are for smoothing out everyone's feathers and reminding people all the things they've already forgotten. She is happily married, oftentimes engaging her husband in her writing, with or without his consent. Tenacious as much as the characters she creates, she loves challenges, letting her own creations to take advantage of that fact.

Thanks so much
for hosting me today! I thought I’d go behind the scenes a little bit and chat
about The MacLomain
Series- Next Generation as a whole. Yes, the Early Years and the original
MacLomain Series definitely impacted
this new extension of the series but it most certainly varies in its storyline.
Born of the couples
from the original series, the Scotsmen in the next generation have their work
cut out for them. Unlike the first two MacLomain Series, this new one is five books
long and covers an ongoing saga that takes place in under a year.
There are not one but
two enemies who are determined to possess the MacLomain’s best kept secret,
Torra. Though a beautiful woman she’s also part dragon. In true nemesis
fashion, one of the bad guys is an evil warlock and the other a warrior
chieftain who defected from his clan.
So through the course
of five novels, the fifth being Torra’s, four modern day women (all of the
Broun heritage and as it turns out, witches) travel back in time to find their
one true love MacLomain connection. Naturally, these strapping highlanders are
wizards to boot.
Interweaving through
these tales are a few modern day paranormal investigators turned warlock. Of
Calum’s kin (Calum’s
Curse Series), these distant relatives of both the Brouns and MacLomains
lend that little something extra to help fight against evil.
It becomes an intricate
tale of not only powerful love but complex characters. Through the Broun’s
Claddagh rings and the MacLomain’s magically enhanced tattoo’s, we slowly but
surely learn more of Torra’s backstory as we follow the first four couples. Expect
a Celtic god, a sword forged beneath a Blood moon and even a Dire wolf as this
sweeping adventure advances.
Thank you so much for joining us today, Sky. We really enjoyed the visit. Good luck and great sales with Vow of the Highlander.

Sarah also has a secret. She is haunted by nightmares about the Salem Witch Trials, and every night she is awakened by visions of hangings, being arrested, and dying in jail. Despite the obstacles of their secrets, James and Sarah fall in love. As James comes to terms with his feelings for Sarah, he must dodge accusations from a reporter desperate to prove that James is not who, or what, he seems to be. Her Loving Husband’s Curse

How far will you go to protect the one you love?
Finally, after many long and lonely years, vampire James Wentworth's life is falling into place. Together with his wife, Sarah, the only woman he has ever loved, he has found the meaning behind her nightmares about the Salem Witch Trials, and now they are rebuilding the life they began together so long ago.
But the past is never far behind for the Wentworths. While Sarah is haunted by new visions, now about the baby she carried over three hundred years before, James is confronted with painful memories from his time with the Cherokee on the Trail of Tears. Through it all, the persistent reporter Kenneth Hempel reappears, still determined to prove that the undead walk the earth. If Hempel succeeds in his quest, James and Sarah will suffer. Will the curse of the vampire prevent James and Sarah from living their happily ever after?
Her Loving Husband’s Return
Book 3
What would you do to return to the only one you have ever loved?
Vampire James Wentworth’s secret is no longer a secret, and now he and his beloved wife, Sarah, have been separated. While suffering his own internment, James is reminded of his time with Japanese-Americans in the Manzanar Relocation Camp during World War II, and he cannot allow the past to repeat itself. With the help of his friends—Chandresh, Jocelyn, Timothy, even the irreverent Geoffrey—James learns what it means to return, and he is determined to return to his Sarah no matter the challenges—or the consequences. In the end, it may be up to Olivia, the most powerful of witches, to grant James’s most fervent wish. Will James and Sarah be reunited once and for all despite the madness surrounding them?

PRFL would like to extend a very warm welcome to Meredith Allard, author of Her Loving Husband series. Meredith, to begin, can you tell us where you're from, and what inspired you to become a writer?
I currently live in Las Vegas,
though I consider L.A. my hometown since I lived there most of my life. I first
thought of myself as a writer when I was 12 and I was asked to write our 6th
grade graduation play. In truth, I was probably only asked because I had the
neatest handwriting in the class, but I felt like a writer. In subsequent
years, I had teachers who used my writing as examples for the class, and that
added to my feeling that I was a writer. I knew that writing was in my future,
and I tried out journalism and screenwriting but neither felt right. Finally, I
found my way to writing novels and I knew I found my home.
Can you say that your journey to publication was difficult? If so, what
were the hardest moments to get through?
My journey to publication was
most certainly difficult. The hardest part for me, as I think it is for a lot
of writers, was the rejection letters. With the Loving Husband Trilogy, I felt I had written a story people would
like if only they had a chance to read it. With previous books, I had given up
after a certain amount of rejection letters, but I wasn’t willing to give up
with the Loving Husband Trilogy. I
was lucky that the indie author movement was taking off just as I was ready to
publish the Loving Husband Trilogy.
Sometimes in life you have to make your own luck, and that’s what I did.
How do you overcome I-suck-itis, that little voice in your head that
tells you your writing isn’t good enough?
I keep at it. I suffer from
I-suck-itis a lot when I’m writing my first drafts because my first drafts
really do suck (thank you to Anne Lamott for making the phrase “shitty first
drafts” popular). But I’ve been writing long enough by now to know that if I
make my way through the first draft, the second draft will be much better—much
more focused and cohesive. So really what I do is keep writing, no matter how
bad it is, with the knowledge that it will get better in time.
What is your dream vacation?
London, and I’m lucky enough to
be going again this summer. For book research, of course...
Describe your writing style in five words.
Keep writing no matter what!
What movies are you currently excited to see?
I’ve been wanting to see the new
X-Men movie since it came out. Hopefully it won’t be out of the theaters by the
time I get there.
What are you currently reading?
I’m currently reading Bring Up the Bodies by Hilary Mantel.
It’s the second book in her Thomas Cromwell trilogy and I love it almost as
much as the first, Wolf Hall.
If you weren’t a writer, what other careers would you pursue?
I would be a college professor,
and I’m lucky enough to be able to pursue that dream as well.
For people who haven’t read your novels, how would you summarize the
plot?
The Loving Husband Trilogy is about vampire James Wentworth and the
only woman he has loved in over three hundred years, his wife Sarah. The first
book, Her Dear & Loving Husband,
is about James and Sarah finding each other again after more than a 300 year
separation. Book Two, Her Loving
Husband’s Curse, is about James and Sarah trying to piece their life back
together again despite the fact that humans have learned of the existence of
vampires. Book Three, Her Loving
Husband’s Return, is about James making the ultimate sacrifice to stay by
Sarah’s side.
To you, what makes a good story?
The characters are the most
important thing in a story to me. Without interesting characters I care about,
the rest of the story doesn’t matter. It could be the most interesting plot in
the world with unexpected twists and turns, but if I don’t care about the
character then I won’t care what happens to him or her.
What usually turns you off about a story?
I don’t care much for stories
that don’t have a lot of detail. I like novels to be worlds unto themselves,
but in order for me to feel like I’m in that world I need to know the details
of what it’s like there. That’s a personal preference, since other readers
prefer stories to be barebones so they can create the details in their own
imaginations.
If you could collaborate with any author, who would you choose, and
why?
Charles Dickens because he’s been
so influential in my own writing, but he’s pretty dead so I don’t expect that
to happen.
What is on your nightstand?
A clock, a lamp, and my iPad and
my phone, both of which are being charged at the moment.
What is your favorite book?
David Copperfield by Charles Dickens. I decided I wanted to write
fiction after reading that book. Dickens is the perfect example of giving
enough detail so that you feel you’re in the story alongside the characters.
Thank you so much for joining us today, Meredith. We really enjoyed the visit. Good luck and great sales with your Her Loving Husband Series.

Date of Publication: March 3, 2014
Number of pages: 359
Cover Artist: Renee Rocco

Book Description:
Legends say a syphon can drain a mage dry. He’ll brave the danger. Will she?
Someone’s playing pranks. The body of the late Casteel patriarch has been stolen and gifted to the family’s enemy, the powerful Rallises. As far as Bronte Casteel is concerned, they can keep it. She hasn’t spoken to her family in thirteen years, not since they exiled her from society for her lack of mage power. But she’s a syphon mage, able drain another mage’s power. Syphons’ destinies are always the same: death by fiery stake. She hides her secret by living among the Nons--powerless humans and the lowest class in the Republic. When her family orders her to go plead for the body’s return, she comes face to face with the one man who knows her secret.
Colonel Vincent Rallis isn’t letting his syphon get away this time. Not when she’s under suspicion of body-napping and aiding anti-mage terrorists. He’ll prove her innocence whether she wants him to or not, and then convince her they belong together...forever.
Vincent’s help comes with a steep price: Bronte must reveal her power. The inevitable ensuing witch-hunt and trial would be bad enough, but even a tough girl might buckle if her prosecutors are her own parents.
CONTENT WARNING: Hot, steamy nights with the colonel’s magic touch.

Hocus Pocus, Bring on the Focus…
There have been a few times in my life when I could have
used a good potion. A potion to cure tongue-tiedness, a potion to melt away a
dozen pounds of fat, a potion to bestow everlasting youth upon my wrinkling
face. Alas, I’ve yet to find an elixir for much of anything, not counting
coffee that merely endows a shaky energy upon its victim.
What’s a writer to do when the real thing doesn’t exist?
Why, she makes it up and adds it to her imaginary world that everyone else
calls a novel.
Syphon’s Song has
a potionness…a mage whose true power enables her to create elixirs that affect
a mage’s physical body as well as his/her energetic aspects. Her name is Althea
and she appears in the story only for the blink of an eye, long enough to serve
a potion to one crazy character who downs it. Presto chango…clarity! Pretty
close to what I could have used last week when my ‘to do’ list lengthened past
the realm of possible. Not only were there not enough hours in the day to
accomplish it all, there wasn’t enough mental fuel in my tank to energize me through
those long hours of needed focus.
I needed a focus potion.
Caffeine wasn’t the entire answer. I needed to go past what
coffee could offer. (Think colossal final exams that test you over everything
you’ve learned in your life. This was the type of challenge my brain faced.
It’s called massive editing on a tight deadline.)
I needed a potion that would keep my brain sharp and my
focus honed. Though I didn’t have a bubbling brew of magic handy, I found my
version of it…ping pong. I took short breaks and played with my ten-year-old.
He pretended we were in the French Open and commentated the play during our
matches. I was Djokovic. He was Nadal. (If you, like me, don’t know tennis,
those are two of the top men in the world. The French Open was on TV while we
were playing. Nadal beat Djokovic to win.)
My magic potion for renewing my focus was a droplet of
physical activity with a heavy dose of laughter, consumed within fifteen minutes
in the company of one of my favorite people in the world. The power of love and
laughter…just the thing a romance writer needs to renew her soul…just the thing
we all need. Should you ever find yourself in need of some magic in your own life,
I wish you a potion of ping-pong power.
Happy reading! And may you always syphon the good vibes of
life.
~Anise Rae
Here’s a question for you all: If you were a potionness, what kind of magic elixir would
you whip up for yourself?
